How matching works
How matching works
Each filament colour is compared with yours using CIEDE2000 (ΔE), a measure of how different two colours look to the human eye rather than how far apart their numbers are. The lower the ΔE, the closer the match:
- Under 2: near identical; most people can't tell them apart side by side.
- 2 to 5: very close, the same colour at a glance.
- 5 to 10: close, clearly related but noticeably different next to each other.
- Over 10: only loosely similar.
The comparison uses the colour codes makers publish. Multi-colour and discontinued filaments are left out.
