Privacy policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Layer Lookup handles when you use this website and what your rights are under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Layer Lookup is responsible for the personal information described here. You can contact us at [email protected].

The short version

Information we handle

When you visit the site. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic details of each request, such as the page, time and browser type, so it can deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure website. We don't use this information to identify you. Cloudflare's own handling is covered by the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which pages are useful and how quickly they load. A small script sends Cloudflare the page address, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, your country and page loading times. Cloudflare removes your IP address and gives us only totals, so we can't identify you, and it uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. We rely on our legitimate interest in improving the site. You can turn analytics off on the cookie policy page, and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal they never load.

When you email us. We use your email address and message only to reply and to act on what you've told us, such as correcting the data. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering messages. We keep emails for as long as needed to deal with them, and for no more than two years. Email sent to our address passes through Cloudflare Email Routing, which forwards it to the inbox we read it in.

Links and sharing

Links to retailers, brands and other websites take you to sites we don't control, with their own privacy policies. The share buttons are plain links: nothing is sent to a social network unless you click one, and the network then handles your information under its own policy. Sharing through your device's share menu happens on your device and nothing is sent to us.

Sharing your information

We don't sell your information or share it with anyone, except Cloudflare, which hosts the site, provides our analytics and forwards our email, and the email service we read messages in, both of which process it on our behalf, or where the law requires it. Cloudflare is a US company and may process information outside the UK; its data processing terms protect it with the safeguards UK law requires for such transfers.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Email [email protected] to use any of these rights. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
